Wedding Celebrant at Wentbridge House

Personal ceremonies in the Wentbridge Suite, by an NOCN Qualified Celebrant who has worked at Wentbridge House for many years.

Wentbridge House and I have known each other a long time. I’ve sung at weddings here for years — the venue currently lists me on their suppliers page as one of their recommended wedding singers, which is a credit I quietly treasure. More recently, I’ve also begun delivering celebrant-led ceremonies for couples here, with a few completed and another booked. A side of the work that’s growing.

A celebrant-led ceremony at Wentbridge House gives you something a register-office route can’t: a service written entirely around the two of you. No template, no script. A ceremony that sounds like you — delivered in a venue I’ve known and worked at for years.

Most of my time at Wentbridge has been spent at the side of the room as a wedding singer, watching how ceremonies unfold here. Couples settling into the Wentbridge Suite. The light through those tall windows. The way sound carries in that particular room. None of it is unfamiliar to me. When I came to celebrancy in 2021, working at Wentbridge as the celebrant rather than the singer felt like a natural extension — the venue is one I could already write a ceremony around, eyes closed.

The Wentbridge Suite is the room is one of the spaces I know best at the venue.  It’s a beautiful space — light, warmly proportioned, looking out into the gardens through the tall windows. A room that asks for a ceremony that matches it.

I work with the room. The way it carries a voice without needing it raised. The way couples and their guests come to rest in it. The way the light shifts during a longer ceremony. By the time we’ve finished planning, you’ll know exactly what’s coming on the day, and so will I.

“Hi Richard — we apologise, first of all, that this email has taken so long to get to you. We still seem to be on cloud 9 since our wedding day; not sure when we’ll come back down to Earth.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a wonderful ceremony. It was the perfect start to our special day, and better than we ever hoped it could be. We had so many guests of ours comment on how fantastic it all was and how great you were. So truly, thank you.

Loads of love".

I’m Richard — NOCN Qualified Celebrant, fully insured and DBS-checked, with over 200 ceremonies behind me across Yorkshire and the North East.

Before training as a celebrant, I spent fifteen years singing at weddings — standing at the side of the room, watching ceremonies unfold. I came to this work already knowing how rooms hold a moment: when to lift, when to settle, when a pause is worth more than another sentence. Wentbridge House has been part of that singing life for as long as I can remember.

We meet for a free first call to see how we’d work together.

If you’d like to go ahead, a deposit secures me in your diary.

Closer to the day, we have a longer conversation — your story, the people, the mood you want.

I write the ceremony from scratch, send it to you, and we revise until every sentence is yours.

On the day, I arrive early, work with the Wentbridge team and your photographer, and deliver the ceremony warmly and at the right pace.

wedding ceremony with me is £445, all-inclusive — every call, every draft, every revision, the props, the music system, the printed certificate and the ceremony itself. There are no extras and no surprises. Wentbridge House sits comfortably within my standard travel zone from Saltburn-by-the-Sea, so there is no mileage charge to add.

If you’re getting married at Wentbridge House or renewing your vows there,  and you’d like a ceremony as personal as the venue, get in touch. The first call is free, with no expectation that it leads anywhere.
