Wedding Celebrant at Rushpool Hall

The celebrant Rushpool Hall recommend to their couples — personal ceremonies in the main room, by an NOCN Qualified Celebrant based a few miles down the road in Saltburn.

Rushpool Hall is the kind of place couples drive past once and quietly decide they’re getting married there. The Gothic stonework, the lake, the gardens, the main room with its high ceilings and warm light — a wedding venue that doesn’t have to try.

I’ve delivered quite a few ceremonies in the main room at Rushpool, and the venue list me on their Friends of Rushpool Hall page — the only celebrant they currently recommend to their couples. The room and I know each other now.

A celebrant-led ceremony at Rushpool gives you something a register-office route can’t: a service written entirely around the two of you. No template, no script. A ceremony that sounds like you, delivered in a room I’ve come to know well, by someone Rushpool’s own team trust enough to put on their recommended list.

The main room at Rushpool does most of the work for me. The ceiling, the light through the windows, the warmth of the wood, the way the room frames a couple at the front — it’s a room built to hold a moment.

What I bring is the ceremony itself: a service written from scratch around your story, delivered at the right pace, in the voice of someone who has stood in that room enough times to know exactly how it carries. I work with the venue team rather than alongside them — the timings, the music cues, the way guests come in and settle, the moment the doors open. None of it is left to chance.

Two couples I’ve worked with at Rushpool Hall have been kind enough to put their thoughts in writing afterwards. Their words tell you more about working with me than mine ever could.

“Celebrant weddings are much more fun!”

“Dear Richard, we can’t thank you enough for all the efforts and personal touches that you put into our ceremony. From our point of view you captured our story, our couple and our chemistry perfectly.

“Our guests all enjoyed the ceremony too, and you received many compliments on how it was delivered. Thank you for being so adaptable to our wishes and requests — we feel sorry for everyone who got married via standard wedding practices, as celebrant weddings are so much more fun!

“We had prepared some cookies to give to you as a thank-you present but you left before we had the chance to hand them over… so now we will have to eat them on our flight to Mauritius instead (we will spare a thought for you as we eat them).

“Please know that you made us a very happy couple. 😊”

I’m Richard — NOCN Qualified Celebrant, fully insured and DBS-checked, with over 200 ceremonies behind me across Yorkshire and the North East.

I live a few miles from Rushpool Hall, in Saltburn-by-the-Sea. Weddings here feel less like a venue I visit and more like part of my home patch — which means timings, traffic, weather, logistics are all things I’ve already thought about long before the day.

Thirty years as a Supporting Artist in film and television, and fifteen as a professional singer, are the reason a Rushpool main room feels familiar from the moment I step in. The voice carries. The pace is right. The room is held.

We meet for a free first call to see how we’d work together.  If you’d like to go ahead, a deposit secures me in your diary.

Closer to the day, we have a longer conversation — your story, the people, the mood you want.

I write the ceremony from scratch, send it to you, and we revise until every sentence is yours.

On the day, I arrive early, work with the Rushpool team and your photographer, and deliver the ceremony warmly and at the right pace.

A wedding ceremony with me is £445, all-inclusive — every call, every draft, every revision, and the ceremony itself. Rushpool Hall is six miles from my front door in Saltburn, so there is no travel charge to add.

If you're getting married at Rudding Park and you'd like a ceremony as personal as the venue, get in touch. The first call is free, with no expectation that it leads anywhere.
