Wedding Celebrant at Thicket Priory

Recommended celebrant for couples marrying at Thicket Priory — personal ceremonies in the chapel, by an NOCN Qualified Celebrant who has worked there many times.

Thicket Priory is one of those venues that doesn’t need embellishment. The brick, the chapel, the courtyard, the long approach — it’s a place that gathers a wedding around itself the moment couples step onto the gravel.

Thicket Priory list me on their website as a recommended celebrant. I’ve delivered four or five ceremonies in the chapel here, and the venue and I have come to understand each other.

A celebrant-led ceremony at Thicket Priory gives you something a register-office route can’t: a service written entirely around the two of you. No template, no script. A ceremony that sounds like you, in the room you fell for when you first walked into it.

The chapel at Thicket Priory is the heart of a wedding here. It’s small enough to feel intimate, beautiful enough to need no decoration, and quiet enough that every word lands. Couples often tell me they didn’t realise how much the room itself would matter until they stood at the front of it.

I work with the chapel. The way sound travels in a stone room. The way light sits on the back wall in the afternoon. The way a small space asks for a different pace from a big one. By the time we’ve finished planning, you’ll know exactly what’s coming on the day, and so will I.

I’m Richard — NOCN Qualified Celebrant, fully insured and DBS-checked, with over 200 ceremonies behind me across Yorkshire and the North East.

Thirty years as a Supporting Artist in film and television, and fifteen as a professional singer, are the reason a chapel like Thicket Priory’s feels familiar from the moment I step in. The voice carries. The pace is right. The room is held.

We meet for a free first call to see how we’d work together.

If you’d like to go ahead, a deposit secures me in your diary.

Closer to the day, we have a longer conversation — your story, the people, the mood you want.

I write the ceremony from scratch, send it to you, and we revise until every sentence is yours.

We rehearse where possible — at Thicket Priory, or over Zoom.

On the day, I arrive early, work with the venue team and your photographer, and deliver the ceremony warmly and at the right pace.

A wedding ceremony with me is £445, all-inclusive — every call, every draft, every revision, and the ceremony itself. Thicket Priory is comfortably within my 100-mile zone from Saltburn-by-the-Sea, so there is no travel charge to add.

If you’re getting married at Thicket Priory and you’d like a ceremony as personal as the venue, get in touch. The first call is free, with no expectation that it leads anywhere.
