Wedding Celebrant at Whitley Hall
Recommended celebrant at Whitley Hall, Sheffield — personal ceremonies in the Parker Suite, the Whitley Suite, and the outdoor pavilion, by an NOCN Qualified Celebrant who has worked with the team for over a decade.

“Richard has worked with us at Whitley Hall for many years and he will be ideal if you are looking for a celebrant to create and deliver a personal wedding ceremony or vow renewal, in a traditional style, full of love and laughter.”
— Whitley Hall Hotel
A celebrant-led ceremony at Whitley Hall gives you something a register-office route can’t: a service written entirely around the two of you. No template, no script. A ceremony that sounds like you — and one delivered in a venue I’ve worked in long enough to know how every space carries sound, settles a room, and frames the moment you’ll remember.
Whitley Hall do also feature a line on their site that I’ve said to many a couple over the years, and it bears repeating here:
“It’s like buying a house. The legal elements are all completed, but it isn’t until you turn the key in the lock that you really feel like you’ve bought a house. Just like a wedding ceremony.”
— Richard, as quoted by Whitley Hall
The legal paperwork is signed quietly at a register office a few days before. The wedding — the bit your guests come to, the bit you’ll remember — is the ceremony I write and deliver for you. That’s where the day actually happens.
Couples I’ve worked with at Whitley Hall have been kind enough to put their thoughts in writing afterwards. Their words tell you more about working with me than mine ever could.
I’m Richard — NOCN Qualified Celebrant, fully insured and DBS-checked, with over 200 ceremonies behind me across Yorkshire and the North East.
Fifteen years as a Supporting Artist in film and television, and fifteen as a professional singer, are why a Whitley Hall room feels familiar from the moment I step in. The voice carries. The pace is right. The room is held — sometimes, with a song.
We meet for a free first call to see how we’d work together.
If you’d like to go ahead, a deposit secures me in your diary.
Closer to the day, we have a longer conversation — your story, the people, the mood you want.
I write the ceremony from scratch, send it to you, and we revise until every sentence is yours.
We rehearse where possible — at Whitley Hall, or over Zoom.
On the day, I arrive early, work with the Whitley Hall team and your photographer, and deliver the ceremony warmly and at the right pace.

THE CEREMONY SPACES AT WHITLEY HALL.
• The Parker Suite — The grand, stone-walled room. Beautiful for couples who want their ceremony in a space that feels properly historic. The stonework holds the warmth of a celebrant-led service in a way that more polished rooms don’t.
• The Whitley Suite — The larger, lighter ceremony space, with room for bigger gatherings and a different kind of atmosphere. Ideal for couples wanting somewhere their whole extended guest list can sit comfortably without the room feeling crowded.
• The outdoor pavilion — A wooden, garden-set ceremony space looking out into Whitley Hall’s grounds. Couples who’ve seen photos of it tend not to need much persuading. Some of my favourite ceremonies of recent years have been here, and it photographs beautifully in any weather.
A wedding ceremony with me is £445, all-inclusive — every call, every draft, every revision, and the ceremony itself. Whitley Hall sits a little further south than my home patch in Saltburn, but after this many years working with the team, I’ve never added a mileage charge for ceremonies here. It would feel wrong to.
If you’re getting married at Whitley Hall and you’d like a ceremony as personal as the venue, get in touch. The first call is free, with no expectation that it leads anywhere.
